All That Was Once So Close.

Hello everyone reading this!
I know I promised to write everyday this December, yet I didn't post anything yesterday *sigh*
Well, truth is, it's pretty hard to balance between two worlds: the real world (I mean, my daily life) and the preparation towards the future (which is so close, yet so far awayyyyy).

So yesterday, I watched this movie I've been wanting to watch for like, a really long time. You guys probably have watched this:

Walt Disney's
ENCHANTED

If you haven't watched this, you should! Now, now, now!

Enchanted tells about Giselle, a young lady from the animated kingdom of Andalasia. Being the typical Disney Princess, she is beautiful, clumsy, cheerful, loving, kind, naive, a dreamer and well, everything the Princesses gang has.

One fine day, she meets Prince Edward, heir to Andalasia, who is dark haired, sparkly eyes, handsome, and ..... pretty much stupid, yet genuine. They fall in love and decide to get married the next morning.

Unfortunately, stepmother Queen Narissa is not happy that her throne is to be passed on. She pushed Giselle into the wishing well (remember Snow White?) which brings her to the real world. Yes, our beautiful mother earth. To be exact, the big apple, city of lights, New York.

Soon after, Giselle catches everyone's eyes with her super gigantic wedding gown and stupid-naive-ness. Until she meets Robert Philip (Aurora's Prince Philip, uhm) and his 6 years old daughter, Morgan.

Although rocky at first, their relationship develops throughout the movie. Giselle waits for her singing Prince Edward, while Robert is about to be engaged to Nancy Tremaine (played by Idina Menzel from Frozen). Morgan starts to bond with Giselle, as her very logical, straight to the point, typical hard working father falls for her.

Meanwhile, Giselle's other half, Prince Edward comes to New York to search for the girl who 'finishes his duet'. His servant, Nathaniel, who is in love with Queen Narissa joins him with another plan: to kill Giselle with a poisoned apple (Snow White, again!)

The movie then goes super crazy, funny, romantic and very entertaining up until the credits scene.

Spoiler Alert!
Near the end, the couple switch partners. Giselle cancels going back to Andalasia and lives with Robert and Morgan, while Prince Edward returns, taking Nancy with him.
Both couples then live happily ever after...... till death to them part.

Gorgeous cast members (!)

Amy Adams, potraying a Disney Princess (sort of) perfectly.

Mr Patrick Dempsey is so hot as Prince Charming!

Hot Lawyer-Prince Charming-Father-New Yorker

Hello, James Marsden :)

Yes, this is how Queen Elsa looked like in Enchanted. Go, Idina Menzel!

 At the Royal Ball

The movie is great, with the beautiful costumes and epic plot line. But the reason I post this is not that. It's one of the songs, So Close by Jon McLaughlin.
This song is played during the Royal Ball scene, when Giselle and Robert dance as they realize they have fallen for each other.

"You're in my arms, and all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together and when I'm with you
So close to feeling alive
A life goes by, romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know, all that I wanted to hold you so close
So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
Now you're beside me, and look how far we've come
So far we are so close
Oh, how could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
Were so close to reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let's go on dreaming for we know we are
So close, so close and still so far"

I personally love this song. Especially, because this song describes many moments in my life that I've been through. I cried during that scene in the film. It's really sad, you know, the last sentence,

"So close and still so far"

Have you been in a situation where you feel like you're almost there. You almost reach something you've been wanting for a long, long time. Yet, when you finally look back and see the path you have walked on, you're only half way.
The thing is too far to reach, yet you want it so so so badly that it hurts?
I have been in a situation like that. Well, maybe not like Giselle and Robert's. But still, it's similar to that.

Falling in love with the wrong person, fighting to be close to him, and then you realize, that you're still far away. Like building castles on air. Dreaming dreams that will most likely not come true, yet you're still holding on. Feeling so close, yet still so so so far away.

Here is to all the girls who have fought for their special someones. For those who waited for a really long time, just for the perfect moment that won't last forever. For those who got hurt in the battle. For those who pray every night, mentioning special names, wishing and wondering. For those who cry to sleep out of missing someone. For those rejected and those not taken seriously. Those who are called worthless and who they think they're too good for. Those who smile during the day and weep by night when all are asleep. Those who still won't give up. Those who are half way there,

You're alright. We're alright. We're together in this. We're half way there. We're almost there. And when the time finally comes, it's gonna be either one of these:
1. He'll finally be with you.
or
2. He'll regret not being with you.

And don't worry! Because maybe, so close isn't so far away.

Love,

Your pal, Vela.
